Hi Katie, I don't know very much about NT either, but I got some help from Jay Clark to do a couple of modifications in the program and in the README.TXT file. > I was advised by someone that the chmod commands are for Unix only, > so how does one install the ringlink script to an NT server, > especially when the FAQ states "chmod "data" to 777?? Maybe chmod is a Unix command, but there must be a way to control file permissions on a Windows NT server too. Another ringmaster pointed out that setting directory permissions on NT is more complicated than on Unix, and that it may require action by someone with administrative access to the server (i.e. your provider). Check your provider's manual, to start with. The script must be allowed to create new files and directories in the "data" directory. That's the reason why the instruction suggests the data directory permissions to be 777. > And do I need to save all of the .pl files as .cgi? No. *.cgi is required by certain Unix servers. > So far, all that I have done, other than edit particular files, is > to make the ringlink folders in my cgi-bin directory. So why not just "go for it" and see if it works. Oh, one more thing. Ringlink makes use of sendmail, which I have been told is not a standard program on NT servers. So you should make sure your provider has sendmail. / Gunnar
