the background question is answered in the FAQ (http://rachelle.net/ringlink/), as for 2 & 3, I'm not sure what you mean. . . the htmlcode.txt is customized when you customize the code in the ring management page (click the buttons: Customize > HTML code) the only thing that file contains is the ring fragment. . .(if I understand you correctly) Good luck!
