I've just read the Apache docs on .htaccess
Too obtuse for me.  Except Apache says individual files can be protected.  
My problem.  
I setup the /data folder in the public accessable www space.
I have support files the users need in the /data/ringname/ folders.
This includes Javascript and graphic files for each ring.
Apache says individual files can be protected.  
Protecting the *.db  files will take care of the problem.  No the question
is how to?  I'm trying other on-line resources now. .
