Are you saying that "official" can be an adequate term to describe a
thing that is just generally recognized by a community, and not
sanctioned by any authority? Isn't "most popular" what that is about?

By making Ringlink open source I chose openness. Accordingly, I can't
see why protection from being challenged would be desirable. If somebody
comes up with something better, it's good for the community.
