I, too, would love to see this function added.  The only reason why I don't do
backups more regularly is because the transfer always seems to hang about
halfway, and it is always a pain trying to figure out just where it left off.
One of my rings is approaching 150 sites (the one that crashed tonight, btw),
and it takes forever to backup.  I blame my webhost, not the software, but it
would be nice to have an alternative.
