A-Ha!
That did it!  By disabling the line use
        LWP::UserAgent;
in the ring.pm file, everything is working as it should (well...at least insofar
as the basic management functions...no site checker  :-(
So...I'm assuming that this means that my webhost has not installed this extra
PERL component, correct?
Who, exactly, should I contact at my webhost?  I hate to send a generic letter
off to the customer service department...they are beyond morons...
