An alternative is to find  web host that WILL allow SSI. I run a host
called the Five Buck Host (http://www.fivebuckhost.com) that gives you
50Mb of space for only $5 per month and that INCLUDES SSI. Any host that
does not allow SSI is not worth the money you pay them!
