Hi All, I thought it was time that an up on the Ringlink Ring Directory Project was sent. First I wanted to thank the member that sent a link to directory project that they are working on. It gave me some valuable insight to some additions for the RL Project that might added in at a later date. The project is moving forward. I think that we have reached an agreement over the structure of the program. There are still a few things in the programming stage; merging the original Links2 program to Links2 with a SQL data base, implementing a better password protection mod for changing/updating your ring listing, and an e-mail contact/suggestion form for the admin. There are also a few things that have nothing to do with the programming part of the project that I would like to ask for help with. 1. Webring, Web Ring or webring? I know that this has been discussed several times on many lists but at the time I want paying attention :( I know that Pete prefers Web Ring when it is used in a title. I would like to ask our list members to take a look at the directory home page: http://www.d-r-d.com/pages/ and tell exactly what form of the word I should use, where and when. If you leave it up to my little fingers I would drop the word web and use just ring. As a matter of fact I have... but I am not sure if that is expectable to the rest of the community. 2. Same question - Ringmaster, Ring Master, RingMaster or Ring Manager http://www.d-r-d.com/pages/ Someone with better written communication skills might want to take what is there now and turn it into a more recognizable form of the English language :o) The welcome message needs to make 4 points 1. the directory's function 2. where to go to join a ring 3. where to go to start your own ring 4 where to go to start your own ring hosting system Debby T.
