A URL Trick

I have just "activated" my first Ringlink webring: Web Guard.
One of the issues I dealt with is the "length" of the URL.
For example:
http://www.JamesSHuggins.com/cgi-bin/ringlink/home.pl?ringid=webguard
I solved my problem by acquiring a new domain name:
RingDeli.com
I used http://NameCheap.com for this. It registers the domain name for only
$8.88 per year.
AND, included in that price, at no extra charge, they provide free URL and
email forwarding.
Then I set up http://RingDeli.com to forward to
http://www.jamesshuggins.com/cgi-bin/ringlink/
So now instead of
http://www.JamesSHuggins.com/cgi-bin/ringlink/home.pl?ringid=webguard
I can use
http://RingDeli.com/home.pl?ringid=webguard
Also, if I ever move it, I just change where RingDeli forwards and all the
links on all the member sites keep working!
This can be especially good if you are using SOMEONE ELSE'S Ringlink system.
By creating and using a forwarding URL you'll let yourself move easier if
you ever want to host it yourself.  You just move it and the members don't
have to do anything.
