The Forbes Book of Business Quotations is more interesting. It is a collection of quotes that has appeared on the back pages of Forbes Magazine since 1917. So the date on the book (1997) isn't really as relevant as finding out when it appeared in the pages of the magazine. The foreword also states that the first hard cover collection of the quotes was over half a century ago. I think you might want to talk to the editorial department at Forbes to see if they can help you track anything down about this.
