Hi: 
My name is Kris Hirst, and I'm the guide for archaeology at About.com. I
started an Archaeology Quote of the Week when I started my site, over two
years ago, and I now have over a hundred quotes, by and about
archaeologists and the past. My quotes come from books, journal articles,
movies, ancient writings, comic book characters. Like Chris, I feel a
little out of place, but only because I'm so much older than everyone--I'm
45. 
Here's one of my favorite quotes: 
"An archaeologist is the best husband anyone can have, the older she gets,
the more interested he is in her." 
I like it because it's been attributed to Agatha Christie, but actually it
was a quote from her husband, Max Mallowan, who was an archaeologist.
